The Besant Nagar Bungalow
Close enough to the beach to hear the surf from the terrace most evenings, which was exactly what drew the family to the site, and exactly what had quietly ruined the old house before it. Door hinges had seized, window fittings had rusted through, and every metal surface within reach of the sea air was on its way out.
We specified corrosion-resistant fittings throughout this time, and planned the room layout to actually use the sea breeze rather than fight it. The living areas sit directly in its path, with cross-openings on both sides. The house now gets through most of the year comfortably without leaning on the air conditioning, which was never something the old one could manage.
