One Kitchen, Two Families
Two brothers and their families sharing one flat, with a kitchen laid out on the assumption of a single cook. Evenings were the pressure point: two people preparing two different meals, one sink, one drainage board, and a doorway that both had to pass through carrying hot vessels.
The room was large enough, just organised for the wrong number of people. We built two working triangles that do not cross: a second sink and hob on the opposite run, storage split so each family has its own cabinets alongside shared dry goods in the middle, and the doorway widened so two people carrying vessels are no longer negotiating right of way. Same kitchen, twice the capacity, and considerably fewer evenings that start with an apology.
